I left a review on Eric's Poughkeepsie page not long ago, however... here is my update. Just days before going to trial, I was told by multiple other lawyers that I was basically screwed because Eric had done such little work to prepare. After firing Eric and hiring a replacement lawyer, the replacement had to completely pull the whole case because NOTHING had been done. When I say Nothing, I'm telling you that not a single subpoena had been filed, no discovery requested, NOTHING. Mind you, this is less than a week from the trial day where I was set to fight for my son. Fast forward.... I get my billing history from Eric. The man has charged out the ass for EVERYTHING, just so that he could keep the majority of my retainer. This man claims he charges $300 an hour but has the nerve to charge $100 to review an email or take a five minute phone call. Even my new lawyer that charges $375 an hour only charges $37 for reviewing an email. This guys a crook. He charged me almost $600 to appear in court for less than hour, a court date that he was over a half hour late for. Fast forward some more. Eric claims there was a little more than $300 of the retainer that was not used, that he HAS to return to me BY LAW. Now a month later... I'm still waiting for a check to come in the mail, Eric refuses to answer or return any of my calls or texts, and I'm now preparing to take legal action. It's not about the money, it's about principle. You pay a man up front for a service and you expect that service to be provided to you. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MAN TO ANYONE! IF YOU WANT A FAMILY COURT LAWYER WHO IS DRIVEN BY THE POWER OF FAMILY AND NOT THE POWER OF THE DOLLAR, THAN DO NOT HIRE THIS LAWYER!
Took only 2 months to forward court order
Mr. Shiller represented me on a major felony matter that I was charged with and a related neglect case in family court. From the start Mr. Shiller battled the prosecutors and he ensured me that he would take care of these charges for me. Shiller did more than that, my criminal charges were completely dismissed!! After he was able to achieve this, Shiller got Social Services to withdraw the neglect and this case was dismissed as well. I will tell you I was so scared throughout this process having never been charged before however Mr. Shiller explained the whole legal process to me and went above and beyond to explain everything so that I could understand. I thought that I was going to lose my kids and get a criminal record however Shiller made sure this did not happen. I owe him so much. My children are home with me and I don't have a criminal record. He is GREAT! If you need a lawyer who will fight for you throughout and ease your stress throughout the court process, Shiller is the one!
I posted on his other site, but I hate when people write bad reviews and make up stuff. I dont know what this guy Cee Jay is talking about, Mr. Shiller is the best. Sounds to me like that guy just didnt want to pay his money to Mr. Shiller and is just talkin s** . I just got my kid back in family court and he is the one who did it. He is super nice and cared about my kids and me, talked to us and everything. No one argues like Mr. Shiller. NOBODY. I wouldnt go to any other lawyer.
Eric Schiller is a great lawyer, he is a no nonsense type of lawyer who is straight to the point. He is extremely familiar with the courts in and around Newburgh. He will fight for you. Eric is honest and looks to help you not hurt you financially. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
